A severe weather warning for Cornwall has been ramped up to 'amber' as Storm Ciara arrives.

The Duchy will be battered by gales of up to 80mph and 'gigantic' waves on Sunday.

The Met Office says flying debris and large waves could lead to Injuries or a danger to life.

Forecasters say a 'high impact' is very likely as what could be the most severe storm to hit the UK since 2013 looms.

Travel disruption is expected, along with power problems and potential damage to buildings.

"Widespread very strong winds will affect much of England and Wales during Sunday.

"Gusts of 60-70 mph will occur widely in inland areas and 70-80 mph along southern and western coasts.

"Heavy rain will accompany the strong winds leading to very poor driving conditions.

"The winds will slowly ease from the north during the latter part of the afternoon and through the evening."
