Fire breaks out at RNAS Culdrose office block

Firefighters from across west Cornwall have been scrambled to a big fire at RNAS Culdrose.

Crews from Helston, Mullion, Falmouth, Tolvaddon and St Just got the call at around 5am.

The blaze broke out in an office block at the base on the outskirts of Helston.

Firefighters from the Royal Naval Air Station were also tackling the fire.

However, there are no reports of anyone having been injured.

"We are currently in attendance at RNAS Culdrose. Crews are tackling a large office block with fire on the ground floor. 

"4 major pumping appliances, breathing apparatus support, incident control unit and 2 flexi-duty officers are in attendance. 

"A crew from the airbase are also in attendance supporting our crews".

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has since tweeted to confirm that the fire has been put out.

"Office Block Fire. RNAS Culdrose. Update 0600 hours. The fire has now been extinguished. 

"The fire involved an office block measuring 18 x 15 metres. 

"Teams of breathing apparatus wearers from Cornwall Fire and Rescue worked in association with Culdrose firefighters".
