The amber weather warning triggered by Storm Ciara was lifted on Sunday night but Cornwall is not out of the woods yet.

A Met Office yellow alert for strong winds will be in force for most of Monday.

Cornwall has seen fallen trees, closures on the Tamar Bridge, power cuts and monster waves.

Now forecasters are warning more gales of up to 70mph are set to hit at the start of this next week.

Flood alerts will remain in force for the whole of the Cornish coast as well, with more big waves expected.

What weather warnings are still in force?

The next Met Office yellow weather warning for strong winds will be in force from 10am - 7pm on Monday.

Forecasters say we can expect:

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • It's likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves

"Although it will remain widely rather windy in the wake of Storm Ciara, a further swathe of very strong winds is possible across the far south of England during Monday.

"Gusts of 60-70mph could develop quite widely over parts of SW England during Monday morning, before moving east through the afternoon to affect other exposed coastal parts of southern England.

"Large waves are expected along the coasts, with a small chance of localised coastal flooding".
