Driver caught at 92mph on the M5 during Storm Ciara

Published by Emma Carton at 8:22am 10th February 2020.

Devon and Cornwall Police have issued a fresh warning to drivers in the wake of Storm Ciara.

At the height of the storm, one was caught doing over 90mph on the M5 near Cullumpton.

Posting on Twitter, the Alliance Roads Policing Team described the speed as "wholly unacceptable".

Devon and Cornwall Police also stopped a driver who was found to have bald tyres and no tax, insurance or MOT.

Worse still, officers say they had their family in the car!

The force has urged drivers to take extra care on the roads on Monday, as the Met Office issues a fresh weather warning.

Gales of up to 70mph are set to batter the Duchy and Devon for most of the day and the whole coast remains on flood alert.
