Man 'punched' during a New Year assault in Truro

Police have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to after a New Year's Day assault in Truro.

They say the victim, who is in his 50s, was verbally abused and punched in the side of the head.

It happened in the early hours of 1st January on King Street, near the junction with Pydar Street.

Now officers believe the man pictured could help with their investigation.

They are urging him, anyone who recognises him or anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

"Police are appealing to identify the man pictured following reports of an assault in Truro.

"Officers were called to King Street at the junction with Pydar Street at around 1.35am on Wednesday 1st January.

"The victim, a man in his 50s, was verbally assaulted before being punched to the side of the head causing injury.

"Investigating officers are keen to speak to the man pictured as it's thought he may have information vital to the investigation.

"Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/000698/20".
