Cornish animal charity suffers major damage in storms

An appeal is going out to Cornwall after a charity that helps abandoned and abused animals suffered major damage in the storm.

Charity The Hugs Foundation, based in Bodmin, also uses rescued ponies to help children who are suffering from poor mental health.

During the wild weather across the weekend the farm suffered some major damage, mainly to the pig shelter.

The pigs have been left without a proper home after their shelter was destroyed by the wind

The storm blew away a large shelter and damaged the isolation barn, which it landed on, so they urgently need to find the piggies a shelter.

The concrete posts from the shelter are still in the ground but it has also caused damage to the fencing so they need to raise funds to replace the shelter, fix the fencing and repair the barn.

The charity says that some of the animals have been left 'terrified'.

The damage to the field shelter

"Storm Ciara has played havoc up here and the pigs have lost their home!

"The might of the storm has blown away a large shelter and damaged the isolation barn so we urgently need to find the piggies a shelter.

"It terrified the sheep and pigs and has caused damage to the barn it landed on.

"The concrete posts from the shelter are still in the ground (just!) but it has also caused damage to the fencing so we need to raise funds to replace the shelter, fix the fencing and repair the barn.

"The pigs are currently residing with the goats but neither are very amused!"
