A Cornish man whose home was struck by lightning has described it as scary.

Roger Greet's property was among two to be hit in Par during Storm Ciara.

Another damaged a roof in Penzance and one person suffered minor injuries in Summercourt.

The thunderstorms also affected a signal box, which resulted in trains in and out of the Duchy being suspended.

"It's a scary experience when your house shakes"

Speaking to ITV News Westcountry, Roger said it is not the first time he has experienced a lightning strike.

"I have seen it before when I was at sea, many years ago. On the Eddystone Lighthouse actually, when I was out there stationed. It was very similar to that.

"The electrics all blew out. The next thing I realised there was so much damage everywhere, right throughout the house.

"The porch is damaged, the door is damaged and the window upstairs is damaged.

"We've got no electricity and no nothing at the moment".

Roger Greet

Roger has been told he is unable to return to his home until checks have been carried out to make sure everything is safe.
