Divers have been forced to call the bomb squad after uncovering explosives in a Cornish quarry.

The Lost and Find team were clearing plastics at Tor Down near St Breward.

What they discovered was a plastic bag full of blasting caps, usually used to detonate bigger exploives.

There were around 1000 caps in the bag and to put that into context, experts only carry around ten!

Emergency services and the bomb squad were called in to get rid of them on Saturday.

"We dive every Saturday, trying our best to help people with cleaning out their quarries they may have on there land as we're trying to reduce the amount of plastic so we collect it all and dispose of it appropriately.

"We were out diving last Saturday when we came across a bag, had no idea what was inside, when we surfaced we had opened it up to find blasting caps that are used to detonate larger explosives.

"We called the police and the bomb squad disposed of them.

"They estimated that there was 1000 of these blasting caps in the bag.

"They also confirmed that they themselves carry only 10 of these as they're more than enough to get the job done.

"We were both in shock at what we found".
