The family of a teenage girl who went missing in Cornwall have thanked the hundreds of people who shared an appeal to find her.

16-year-old Brooke Maddern had not been seen since leaving her home in Redruth on Sunday night.

Her mum, Justine, got in touch with Pirate FM amid fears for her safety.

It has since been confirmed that Brooke was found safe and well at a house in Troon on Wednesday afternoon.

Posting on Facebook, Justine thanks everyone who shared the appeal and the police who 'acted immediately'.

"Brooke has been found...

"She was picked up just under an hour ago by police from a home in Troon.

"Main thing is she is safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone for sharing and spreading the word.

"It's thanks to all the social media coverage that she was spotted and we were contacted so we could inform the police, who acted immediately".

"Big thank you xx".
