A massive tree has fallen and reportedly 'hit a car' on the Lizard Peninsula.

It came down on the B3293 and one person is said to have suffered minor injuries.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene, near the Trelowarren Estate, on Thursday morning.

One patient was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Photos show the tree completely blocking the road, making it impassable. Officers say that Highways took over the incident at around 9am.

"We were called at 07:38 to reports of a road traffic collision, reportedly involving a car and a tree.

"We attended with an ambulance and one patient was taken to hospital for further treatment."

There are also reports of flooding along the same stretch of road at Garras.

The road is open but the surface water is said to be causing issues.

"Slow traffic due to flooding on B3293 in both directions between Skyburriowe Lane (Garras) and Goonhilly Earth Station (Goonhilly Downs).

"The road is now open but flooding is still causing an issue near Goonhilly."
