50ft fallen tree closes A38 through Cornwall

Part of the A38 was closed through Cornwall because of a 50ft fallen tree.

The road was shut in both directions through the Glynn Valley which caused problems through the Wednesday morning rush hour.

Diversions were put in place as the tree completely blocked the carriageway.

Police were urging drivers to find an alternative routes and tree surgeons were called to the scene.

It caused problems for commuters for several hours but officials have now confirmed that the stretch has reopened.

"Police dealing with a large fallen tree completely blocking both carriageways of the A38 Glynn Valley.

"Please find alternative routes or expect delays while we arrange for this to be cleared."

Devon and Cornwall Police

"The A38 is totally blocked due to a fallen tree at the Glynn Valley near Trago Mills.

"The roads surrounding this location will be busy this morning until the tree is cleared, so give yourself plenty of time for your journey."
