Pedestrian 'seriously injured' in crash

A pedestrian has been involved in a collision with a car in Penzance town centre.

Police say the crash happened just before 11.30am on Thursday morning.

Paramedics were also called to the scene on Market Jew Street.

A man has suffered potentially serious injuries and has been taken to Treliske hospital.

"Police were notified at around 11.20am to Market Jew Street in Penzance following reports of a collision between a man and a car. 

"Ambulance services are at the scene and the road has currently been closed. 

"Injuries are potentially serious."

Devon and Cornwall Police

The road was closed in the area but officials have confirmed that it has now reopened.

"Market Jew Street Southbound closed due to accident, a car and a pedestrian involved from Albert Street to The Greenmarket."
