Empty car found in river near St Ives

A car has been found in a river near St Ives.

The discovery was made early on Friday morning in the Nance area near Lelant.

When officers got to the scene the vehicle was found to be empty.

There is now police tape around it and they are trying to work out what happened.

"Police were called at 5.50am today to reports of a vehicle in the river at Lelant. The vehicle was empty on police arrival.

"The vehicle now has police tape around it and is not causing obstruction to the road.

"Enquiries remain ongoing."

At the time is was being reported that the road was partially blocked. 

"Reports of The Main Road through Nance partially blocked due to accident near Trencron Lane. Traffic is coping well.

"Callers report one vehicle has gone into the river."
