Huge barn fire in Cornwall treated as arson

A huge fire that gutted part of a barn in east Cornwall is being treated as arson.

Flames tore through the building near St Dominick, Saltash, on Saturday night.

It was packed full of hay and some machinery.

Firefighters from Callington, Saltash, Liskeard and Launceston rushed to the scene.

The fire was so fierce, smoke from the burning building could be seen for miles.

Benjamin Lawley Photographer captured these images as the blaze took hold.

Tweeting about the incident, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service confirmed police were also called.

"Crews from Callington CFRS, Saltash CFRS, Liskeard CFRS and Launceston CFRS responded to a barn fire last night. 

"The barn held a large amount of hay and some machinery.

"The cause of the fire is thought to be arson and has been handed over to Devon and Cornwall Police".
