Cornish cat rescue saved from closure

A cat rescue centre in Redruth has been saved from closure thanks to generous donations on its crowdfunding page.

Last month, Sue's Cat Rescue was forced to shut after vet bills had got so high.

At any one time it has around 80 cats to care for and look after.

25 of those are permanent residents that cannot be rehomed.

The page was set up by Tiff Wingfield Hodgson with the initial target of £1000.

She admitted it wouldn't have come close to clearing the vets bill but it wasn’t long after Christmas and she didn't want to "ask too much of people."

However, it's managed to smash the target and raise just over £12,000.

Tiff made the announcement on its Facebook page.

"The vets bill was cleared in FULL - in fact, with a bumper to treat the next few desperate cats !!

"In addition to this many people have signed up to give monthly direct debits - thank you.

I" know the response to the appeal was quite overwhelming for Sue… but I think it really goes to show how much we all love and respect what Sue’s Cat Rescue does - and how important it is that it continues to help those kinds of cats.

"To each and every one of you, for each and every share, each and every pound.. THANK YOU. You are a part of something SO incredible & quite literally life changing”.
