Two colleges in Cornwall have issued advice about coronavirus to students returning from half-term skiing trips.

Truro and Penwith and Callywith in Bodmin have received numerous calls after the outbreak in northern Italy.

They say only those who have travelled to areas north of Pisa and who are showing symptoms should self-isolate.

Officials say they are following the current advice from WHO and Public Health England and monitoring the situation.

One parent, whose son goes to Callywith, claims some pupils were sent home on Tuesday but that has not been confirmed.

"Truro and Penwith College is receiving a considerable number of calls regarding the Coronavirus following a half-term student ski trip to the Italian Alps.

"The College is following current WHO and Public Health England advice that only those who have travelled to areas north of Pisa and are displaying symptoms should self-isolate.

"The College's senior managers are staying as up-to-date as possible on developments and ongoing advice and are in a position to react promptly to any relevant updates as and when necessary.

"Anyone with personal health concerns should contact their GP or NHS111 directly".
