Drivers are being warned to expect road closures as Storm Jorge sweeps into Cornwall.

The Tamar Bridge has issued an advance notice for possible restrictions.

Gales of up to 70mph an hour are set to hit on Saturday and Sunday.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning, as forecasters predict huge waves and travel disruption.

The strong winds will follow 24 hours of torrential rain, that put rivers from Penzance to Bude on flood alert.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging drivers to take extra care on the Duchy and Devon's roads this weekend.

Motor Patrol Constable Robert Jasper has this advice for driving in stormy weather.

"It's things like debris that gets blown across the road so just reduce your speed and look well ahead.

"Also the stopping distances when the roads are actually swamped is massively increased to leave a good distance of space between yourself and the vehicle in front.

"When the roads are wet it reduces the friction of the tyres onto the road surface so your braking ability, your cornering ability - it's all reduced.

"That's why we encourage people just to slow down a little bit more".
