'Police incident' closes main road in Camborne

A main road through Camborne was left closed due to a 'police incident'.

Officers were called to concerns for a woman's welfare on Wesley Street.

Emergency services were pictured at the scene first thing on Monday.

The incident happened on the stretch just down from the Tesco store at around 6am.

Police have since confirmed that a woman has died and a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

An ongoing police incident has closed one of the main roads through Camborne.

Cordons remain in place outside a house at the scene.

Police, called to concerns for a person's welfare, have since confirmed that a woman has died.

"Police were called to a property in Wesley Street, Camborne, at 6.10am this morning following reports of concern for the welfare of a woman inside an address.

"Emergency services attended the scene where the woman was sadly confirmed deceased.

"Her next of kin have been informed.

"A 47-year-old man from Camborne has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.

"A scene guard and police cordon remain in place whilst enquires are ongoing".

Traffic and travel service, Inrix, has confirmed that the road has now reopened in both directions.

"A3047 Wesley Street in both directions re-opened, traffic easing, police incident over between Kerrier Way Roundabout and The Vyvyan Arms.

"The incident has been ongoing since around 06:00 this morning, by the junction with Albert Street. This is the road near Tesco and the Wesleyan Church."
