Appeal for dashcam footage after fatal crash in Cornwall

Police have confirmed that a pedestrian who died after a crash in Cornwall was a man.

An appeal for dashcam footage has now been issued after the fatal collision at Lanivet, near Bodmin.

The casualty was caught in a collision with a car on the A389 on Sunday night.

Members of the public, police and paramedics rushed to the scene just before 10.30pm but sadly the casualty could not be saved.

Forensic investigators went over the scene and the public have been thanked for their patience.

Officers want anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam footage to come forward.

"At approximately 10.30pm on Sunday 1st March, police were informed of a road traffic collision on the A389 outside of Bodmin nursery, Westheath Avenue, Lanivet, involving a blue Honda Civic and a male pedestrian.

"Despite best efforts from members of the public, police and ambulance staff, the pedestrian was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.  

"Specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall’s Alliance Roads Policing Team attended along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scene of Crime Officer.

"The driver of the vehicle is helping police with their enquiries.

"A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the exact cause of this collision.

"Officers would like to thank the public for their patience while they investigated the scene."

Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision and who may have dashcam footage to call 101, or email, quoting log number 829 of 01/03/2020.
