Police are appealing for CCTV footage after an alleged armed robbery in St Austell.

Officers say two women were threatened at knifepoint at the Spar on Brockstone Road.

A man in a motorbike helmet reportedly held a blade to one of the workers' stomachs.

The other was apparently shoved before the attacker made off with cash and cigarettes.

Anyone who saw something late on Sunday night is being urged to come forward.

"Police in St Austell are appealing for information about a supermarket robbery during which two female shop assistants were threatened at knifepoint.

"The incident took place on Sunday 1st March at around 10pm at Spar on Brockstone Road.

"The suspect, a male wearing a motorcycle helmet and red gloves and brandishing a knife, entered the shop and demanded that the till was opened.

"The man pushed one shop assistant and held a knife to the stomach of the other before making off with cash and cigarettes.

"Both members of staff were left shaken but unhurt in the incident.

"The suspect was wearing dark clothing and was described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, around 6’ in height, with pitted/scarred skin and light coloured eyebrows.

"He reportedly left on foot in the direction of Brockstone Road.

"Police would particularly like to hear from drivers who were in the area between 9.45pm and 10.30pm who may have dashcam footage which may have captured the suspect.

"CCTV footage from houses in the area around Brockstone Road and Boscoppa Road, is also sought".
