A D-Day veteran from Cornwall says he accepted his MBE for 'the fellas who never came back'.

94-year-old Harry Billinge from St Austell collected his award from the Queen at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

He was just 18-years-old when he landed on Gold Beach on June 6th 1944.

This incredibly brave man has raised £1 for every British soldier who died at Normandy, for the Normandy Memorial Trust.

Speaking to ITV News Westcountry, he had a special message in memory of the soldiers who died.

"It was hell on earth. Murder. The sea was red with blood, human blood.

"Some men were baptised in their own blood. It was a terrible, terrible time. And what for? Not much.

"I have been unable to forget D-Day. I could never forget".
