Woman arrested after fatal crash near Bodmin

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after a fatal crash in Cornwall.

A pedestrian was caught in a collision with a car at Lanivet, near Bodmin, on Sunday night.

Members of the public, police and paramedics tried to help just before 10.30pm on the A389.

Tragically 26-year-old man lost his life at the scene.

A full investigation of the scene was carried out and an appeal for witnesses was launched.

Now police say a 27-year-old woman was arrested and has since been released under investigation.

"Police are investigating an RTC which occurred on the A389 at Lanivet, Bodmin, at around 10.15pm on Sunday 1st March, in which a 26-year-old male pedestrian died.

"A 27-year-old woman has been arrested and released under investigation on suspicion of driving under the influence of a Class B drug, namely cannabis."

Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision and who may have dash cam footage to telephone 101 quoting Log 829 01/03/2020.
