FREE train travel in Cornwall after Flybe collapse

Published by Emma Carton at 12:40pm 5th March 2020. (Updated at 2:46pm 5th March 2020)

Passengers and staff affected by the collapse of Flybe are being offered free train travel in Cornwall.

Great Western Railway is giving out one ticket on its trains for those intending to travel today (Thursday 5th March).

It applies to all of FirstGroup's rail companies, including Avanti West Coast, South Western Railway, TransPennine Express and Hull Trains.

"Our rail services connect people and communities up and down the country and as a gesture of goodwill we want to ensure that anyone who was due to travel on Flybe's grounded flights today can still complete their journey".

First Rail Managing Director, Steve Montgomery

How can I take up the offer?

  1. Customers will need to provide a boarding pass or other valid proof of booking for a flight today.
  2. They should show this to employees at the station ticket office where they begin their journey and will be given a complimentary standard class ticket to their original flight destination, via any reasonable route.
  3. Flybe employees should show staff ID to take up the same offer.
