Cornwall airport "saddened" by collapse of Flybe

Cornwall Airport Newquay says it is "saddened" by the news of Flybe's collapsed.

The Exeter-based airline, which operates 65% of Newquay airport's flights, has fallen into administration.

It only secured a rescue deal back in January, but bosses say a slump in bookings caused by coronavirus has made things worse.

All Flybe flights to and from the Duchy airport have been cancelled with immediate effect.

"We are saddened by the news that Flybe has ceased trading.

"We can confirm that all Flybe flights to and from Cornwall Airport Newquay are cancelled with immediate effect, this includes flights operated by Stobart Air.

"Passengers due to travel with Flybe's franchise partners: Blue Islands and Eastern Airways, are advised to contact their airline to confirm their travel arrangements.
"Affected passengers are advised not to travel to the Airport but instead to visit www.caa.co.uk/news and Twitter feed (@UK_CAA) for advice and information.
"All other flights are operating as normal."

It applies to all of FirstGroup's rail companies, including Avanti West Coast, South Western Railway, TransPennine Express and Hull Trains.
