Another Warrens shop to close in Cornwall

Another Warrens shop to close in Cornwall

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 2:45pm 5th March 2020.

It has been revealed that another Warrens store is closing in Cornwall.

Pirate FM told you how the Cornish bakery said its St Just factory would shut back in December 2019.

It was also announced that 22 stores around the country would close, including just one in Cornwall, which was Bodmin.

Now bosses have confirmed that the High Cross store in Truro, located near the cathedral, will also be closing at the end of the month.

The decision to not renew the lease on the store is being put down to a change in footfall.

The other two Truro shops are set to remain open and bosses insist there are no more closures planned.

Pirate FM understands that there will be job losses and staff are being supported by the bakery chain.

"Recent changes to the footfall and retailers surrounding our High Cross store, situated near the cathedral in Truro, mean that Warrens Bakery have taken the decision not to renew the expensive lease on this store.

"Our two remaining Truro stores are in higher footfall locations and able to service our customers comfortably.

"We recently made a similar decision in Barnstaple and have seen significant sales increase in the remaining stores where loyal customers are happy to divert to.

"There are no further shop closures planned at this time.

"High Cross last day of trading will be 28th March 2020.

"We are consulting with our staff throughout this process to redeploy or support them with alternative opportunities."
