The Environment Agency has issued 11 flood warnings, covering the whole of the Cornish coast.

They will be in force from Land's End to The Rumps and Land's End to Rame and mean 'immediate action' is required.

It follows flood alerts in the area which were issued for Wednesday into Thursday.

The warnings will be in force for high tides on Wednesday morning, as forecasters say strong winds could whip up large waves.

What flood warnings are in force?

  • North Cornwall Coast: Land's End to Chapel Porth
  • North Cornwall Coast: Copperhouse Pool at Hayle
  • North Cornwall Coast: Chapel Porth to The Rumps
  • North Cornwall Coast: Tidal River Camel
  • North Cornwall Coast: At Wadebridge and Chapel Amble
  • North Cornwall Coast: The Rumps to Hartland Point
  • South Cornwall Coast: Mount's Bay Seafront Properties
  • South Cornwall Coast: Land's End to Lizard Point
  • South Cornwall Coast: Lizard Point to Gribbin Head
  • South Cornwall Coast: Gribbin Head to Rame Head
  • South Cornwall Coast: Rame Head to Wembury Bay

"Flooding is possible over the morning high tide on Wednesday 11th March.  Times of high water will vary along the coast. Conditions apply two hours either side of the high tide, with property flooding expected over the peak of the tide.

"Force 4 to 6 westerly winds and offshore wave heights of over 2m are forecast. These could result in wave overtopping and sea spray along the coast including sea front car parks. People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care.

"Take care near coastal paths and promenades. We are monitoring the situation and will update this information on Wednesday or if the situation changes".
