A giant hole has opened up in a garden near Camborne and exposed a suspected mine feature.

The collapse happened on Pendarves Street in Beacon and the area around the hole has been closed off.

Officials say the fencing will remain in place to help keep the public safe.

Regular inspections are being carried out to review the condition and repair works will then be carried out.

"A suspected mine feature has opened up in a private garden near to a private unsurfaced lane to the rear of 39 Pendarves St and 1 Bekelege Drive, Beacon, Camborne.

"The private lane behind numbers 39-53 Pendarves Street has also been closed as a precaution due to the close proximity.

"Fencing has been put up by the owner of the property affected, and additional fencing by Cormac on behalf of Cornwall Council as an outer boundary as a standard public protection method, to prevent accidental access to the feature.
