The Environment Agency has issued ten flood warnings, covering the whole of the Cornish coast.

They will be in force from Land's End to The Rumps and Land's End to Hartland Point and means 'immediate action' is required.

Flood alerts have also been issued for Wednesday into Thursday from Lizard Point to Rame.

Forecasters say strong winds could whip up large waves and have asked people to take care when walking along coastal areas.

What flood warnings are in place?

  • Copperhouse Pool Hayle
  • Chapel Porth to The Rumps excluding the tidal River Camel
  • The Rumps to Hartland Point excluding Bude
  • Tidal River Camel excluding Wadebridge and Chapel Amble
  • Wadebridge and Chapel Amble
  • Lands End to Chapel Porth
  • Lands End to Lizard Point excluding Mounts Bay
  • Mounts Bay, seafront properties
  • Lizard Point to Gribbin Head excluding Truro City
  • Gribbin Head to Rame Head

"Flooding is expected over the high tides, on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

"Times of high water will vary along the coast. Conditions apply two hours either side of high tide, with property flooding expected over the peak of the tide.

"Force 7 west-south-westerly winds and offshore wave heights are increasing to over 5m on Thursday.  These are forecast to cause wave overtopping and sea spray along the coast including sea front car parks.

"Tides may be up to 500mm higher than predicted.

Take care near coastal paths and promenades. Do not drive through flood water.

"We are monitoring the situation and will update this information on Thursday, or if the situation changes"
