Pedestrian who died in fatal crash is named

A pedestrian who died after a fatal crash in Cornwall has been named as Michael Keelin.

The 26-year-old from Cambridge was caught in a collision with a car near Bodmin.

Members of the public, police and paramedics rushed to the scene at Lanivet earlier in March. 

Tragically the young man could not be saved and lost his life at the scene.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and has since been released under investigation.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam footage is being asked to contact officers.

"A pedestrian who died in a collision with a car in Lanivet, Cornwall, has been named as 26-year-old Michael Keelin, of Duxford in Cambridge.

"Emergency services were called to the A389 Westheath Avenue at around 10.30pm on Sunday 1st March.

"Despite the best efforts of members of the public, police and paramedics, Mr Keelin was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.  

"The collision involved a blue Honda Civic.

"A 27-year-old woman from Bodmin was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a Class B drug, namely cannabis. She has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."

Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision and who may have dashcam footage to call 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log number 829 of 01/03/2020.
