Youngsters across Cornwall are staging action over climate change as part of a global movement.

They are striking on Lemon Quay in Truro across Friday afternoon and demanding action from the government.

It is part of the Youth Strike 4 Climate movement, which is part of the Fridays For Future movement started by Greta Thunberg.

Organsiers in Cornwall say the strike is still going ahead despite corobavirus concerns but they are expecting much smaller numbers.

They say a warning has gone out to people that if they are worried about the spread of Covid-19 then not to come but they will also be encouraging washing hands and staying clean.

"All around the world, students will be striking from school to join marches, rallies and protests, standing up to demand change and action from governments and local councils.

"We will be in Lemon Quay from 11am to 3pm, demanding change and action, verbally and through banner making, songs and performance arts.

"There will also be climate games and a cake to celebrate our commitments and the change we have all witnessed within the climate movement."
