Coronavirus: Selected courses closed at Truro and Penwith College

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 4:23pm 13th March 2020. (Updated at 5:50pm 13th March 2020)

Truro and Penwith College has decided to temporarily close some of its courses until after the Easter break.

Those who attend Access Skills Development (ASD) and Access to Community and Education (ACE) courses at the college says it won't be teaching from the evening of Friday 13th March.

It follows the latest coronavirus advice from the UK Government which is for individuals to self-isolate for seven days if they demonstrate symptoms of a cough or fever.

As a result of this advice, the college is unable to guarantee the future availability of suitably trained staff to safely support those college students who have complex health and support needs. It is also mindful of the vulnerability of these students' own health.

All other courses taught at Truro and Penwith College remain unaffected and continue to operate as normal.

It says it fully appreciates the possible disruption the course closures may cause and apologises for any inconvenience, but must put the safety of its vulnerable students first.

This decision will be reviewed during the Easter break with students, parents/carers contacted with updates as soon as available.
