Armed robbery at shop in Cornish village

An armed robbery has taken place at a shop in a Cornish village.

The Spar shop in Mullion, on the Lizard, was targeted on Saturday morning.

Police have confirmed that a man made off with cash and tobacco. 

Luckily no one was hurt and officers say there is no need for the public to worry.

Eyewitnesses have told Pirate FM that a cordon was put in place.

"An armed robbery has taken place and a male offender made off with tobacco and cash.

"No one was hurt.

"There is no need for the public to be unduly worried.

"The incident is still ongoing."
