Attempted dog theft as walker is attacked in Newquay

Police are investigating after two men tried to steal a dog in Newquay.

Officers say they attacked a walker in the Pentire car park and tried to take one of his pets.

They didn't managed to get the dog but made off with a big bag of camera equipment.

Neither of the walker's dogs were hurt or stolen.

Anyone who saw what happened just after 8pm last Wednesday is being urged to come forward.

"Police are investigating a robbery in Newquay in which a pair of men attacked a dog walker and tried to take one of his pets.

"Officers are appealing for information over the incident in the Pentire car park, overlooking Crantock beach, at around 8.10pm on Wednesday 11th March.

"The suspects attempted to take one of the male victim’s two pets, but were challenged and a struggle ensued. They subsequently made off with a bag of camera equipment. 

"Both of the dogs were recovered safe and well by their owner."

Police are urging witnesses, or anyone with information, to call 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting crime reference number CR/021544/20.
