Cornwall Pride 2020 will go ahead as planned according to organisers despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisers said its main annual event in Newquay will still take place over the bank holiday weekend in August (Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th).

It has however announced postponements of upcoming events in the county.

Its Moonbow Gala fundraiser in May and bus tour in June will now be moved to alternative dates which are yet to be announced.

Organisers have assured us that it is monitoring the situation with the Coronavirus pandemic as it develops, and are taking careful notice of the announcements made by the Government and local authorities.

"Over the coming months, we will also be working on contingency plans with the support of our suppliers, Newquay Town and Cornwall Council.

"We will be open and honest with our plans, and keep everyone informed of anything that might change that could affect the event going ahead as planned. But at present, with an event of our size, we will be taking extra precautions to ensure that no one is put in any unnecessary risk.

"We will take action to delay or cancel should we or external parties feel it necessary.

"We would like to thank everyone for the support we have already enjoyed from our Volunteers, Ambassadors, Sponsors, and the wider community of Cornwall.

"Please take care of yourselves and loved ones, and remember to offer extra support to those most vulnerable to this pandemic.

"Please join our community Facebook group CP Cornwall Group to connect and support our amazing community at this challenging time."
