Cornish residents lifting the spirits of communities amid coronavirus pandemic

In the midst of these uncertain times, as coronavirus sweeps the nation, people of Cornwall have been doing their bit to keep the smiles on people's faces.

Here at Pirate FM, we have chosen our top four things people are doing in the community to help each other cope during this difficult time:

  • In an attempt to replicate the uplifting sense of community brought by the music in the streets of Italy, 13-year-old Dylan and his dad from Newquay - known as The Samba Bikers -  have stapped buckets to the bikes and taken to the streets in a bid to spread cheer through music.

  • A Cornish-based ice cream brand has decided to distribute free tubs of ice cream to those who need a little pick-me-up. Coconut Organic has said it will deliver 1,500 tubs to those they feel need it the most.

  • One of Cornwall's smallest Primary Schools has taken it upon themselves to spread some 'musical sunshine'. Lerryn Primary School is aiming to get the video, posted on their Facebook page, shared as many times as possible to keep Cornwall uplifted. Fancy a listen? Watch the video below!
  • In an attempt to keep themselves and the rest of their team positive, members of the acute medical staff at the Royal Cornwall Hospital have turned to Tik Tok to help get their message across, whilst keeping spirits up. (And we think it's ace!).

If you have anything you'd like to share with us that you're doing to lift the spirits of your local community we would love to hear about it. Just visit the Pirate FM Super Blog website here.
