Young man left needing surgery after assault

A young man has been left needing surgery after being punched in the face in Torpoint.

Police say the 22-year-old victim suffered a badly broken jaw after trying to break up a fight.

It happened at the Millbrook Football Club in the early hours three weekends ago.

Anyone who saw what happened during the assault is asked to contact officers.

"A 22-year-old man has suffered a badly broken jaw after trying to break up a fight at a sports venue in Torpoint, Cornwall.

"The incident occurred between midnight and 2am on Saturday 7 March at the Millbrook Football Club.

"The man had tried to intervene in an altercation which had broken out outside the club and was punched.

"His jaw was so badly broken he required surgery and a metal plate to be fitted."
