Murder investigation launched in Cornwall

A murder investigation has been launched in Cornwall following the death of a young man.

The 22-year-old from Plymouth was found unconscious with a 'significant head injury' at Kelly Bray, near Callington.

He was taken to hospital on Thursday night but tragically he could not be saved, and died two days later on Saturday.

A 37-year-old man was also taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Meantime a 26-year-old man from Callington has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody

A further 29-year-old man from Gunnislake, who had been arrested on suspicion of murder, has now been released on police bail

"Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police‚Äôs Major Crime Investigation Team have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 22-year-old man from Plymouth.  

"He had been taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth following an incident at around 9.30pm, Thursday 26th March, when he was found unconscious with a significant head injury.

"Unfortunately, he tragically died on the morning of Saturday 28th March.

"A 37-year-old man was also taken to Derriford Hospital on Thursday evening where he is being treated for multiple injuries which are considered life-changing, possibly life-threatening.  

"He has been arrested on suspicion of murder but, due to his injuries, remains in hospital receiving treatment.

"A 29-year-old man from Gunnislake, who had been arrested on suspicion of murder, has now been released on police bail.  

"A further 26-year-old male from Callington has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody."
