Car parking charges suspended across Cornwall

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 6:23am 30th March 2020. (Updated at 7:15am 30th March 2020)

Car parking charges in Cornwall have been suspended to help support essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Cornwall Council says the measures, which also include parking zone restrictions, will be in place until the end of April.

The changes are already in force and will be reviewed on a monthly basis.

Officials say they want to make it as easy as possible for key workers and for them not to worry about handling coins.

“We need residents to stay at home and stay safe, now is not the time for anyone to worry about parking charges and issues associated with coin handling.

“We also want to make it as easy as possible for essential workers to get to and from work and removing parking charges is one way in which we can support them during this critical time.

“It is really important, however, that people always remember to park considerately and continue to follow government guidance about avoiding any unnecessary travel.”

Councillor Geoff Brown, portfolio holder for transport

Anyone with questions about the new parking arrangements should email the Council’s Parking Services team in the first instance at parking@cornwall.gov.uk.

The team will aim to respond within 10 working days. If you don’t have access to email or the internet please call 0300 1234 222.
