Three men who were arrested following the death of a man in Callington have been released on bail.

A 22-year-old man from Plymouth was seriously injured and taken to hospital after an incident at Kit Hill near Callington, at around 9.30pm on Thursday 26 March. He later died from his injuries on Saturday 28 March.

A 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old man from Gunnislake have been arrested on suspicion of murder of the 22-year-old man.

In addition, a 38-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both from Callington, have been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a 37-year-old man during the same incident.

Three of the suspects are on police bail having been interviewed by detectives from the Major Crime Team.

Meanwhile, the 37-year-old suspect remains under police guard in Derriford Hospital where he is recovering from multiple injuries which he sustained during the same incident.

Officers believe this to be an isolated incident between a group of males known to each other.

At this time police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder or attempted murder.

“This has been a very fast moving enquiry and I would like to thank the communities within East Cornwall for all the support they have provided, particularly those who have been socially distancing or self-isolating.

“Should anybody have information about this incident I would urge them to contact us on 101 quoting reference CR/025664/20. Alternatively, should they wish to remain anonymous, information can be provided to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
