Health care worker 'verbally abused' in Cornwall

Health care worker 'verbally abused' in Cornwall

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 10:59am 3rd April 2020.

Bosses at Treliske say they are "deeply concerned" amid reports a health care worker was verbally abused near St Austell.

Police say a woman was harassed at a residential property last Saturday.

A 58-year-old local man was then questioned by officers and given an antisocial behaviour notice.

Later that day it was reported that a car window was smashed at the same address.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust says it is "extremely sad" because of the nature of the person's work caring for patients who may have coronavirus.

RCHT bosses added that they will support any colleague who faces this sort of behaviour.

"We were deeply concerned by the report this weekend of a health care worker who was the subject of verbal abuse and damage to their property, because of the nature of their work caring for people who may have coronavirus.

"It is extremely sad this has happened. We will support any colleague who faces this sort of behaviour and will help them to take appropriate action.

"The police are aware of this incident and are taking the matter very seriously."
