It has been revealed that three police officers were assaulted across Cornwall over the weekend.

Chief Superintendent Ian Drummond-Smith shared the update on Twitter following a string in incidents.

Officers were called to reports of a man being attacked on New Street, Penzance, late on Friday night.

A 33-year-old was taken to hospital where he received treatment for a laceration to his arm requiring several stitches.

A 54-year-old man from west Cornwall was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and bailed until later in April.

On Saturday morning, emergency services were called to a serious crash on the outskirts of Falmouth.

A car and a tractor towing a trailer were caught in a collision in Mawnan Smith.

A 46-year-old local man suffered injuries to his upper body which have been described as potentially life-threatening or life-changing.

An investigation of the scene was carried out and anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam footage is being asked to come forward.
