Restaurant owner Crowdfunds to make food for Cornish NHS workers

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 12:00pm 13th April 2020.

A restaurant owner from St Agnes has so far raised £14,000 to provide food for NHS workers across Cornwall.

Benn, Quinn who run Canteen, set up a Crowdfunding page to help purchase ingredients to make meals for those who are working on the NHS front line during the coronavirus outbreak.

He and his professional team of chefs have been producing healthy boxes of food. They're currently being served at the Knowledge Spa at Royal Cornwall Hospital, West Cornwall Hospital (WCH), and at St. Michael’s Hospital (SMH).

Benn Quinn has delivered food boxes to three hospitals in the Duchy.

Initially, these meals were being subsidised thanks to the Crowdfunding appeal, however, as the money raised has exceeded expectations, Ben and his team are now able to offer these delicious boxes of food for free using the funds, across all three hospital sites.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust says it is encouraging people to keep donations coming over the coming weeks and months.

If you would like to make a donation, visit the Crowdfunding page here.
