Campaign to launch credit card that raises money for the NHS

A man from Cornwall is hoping to launch an 'NHS reward credit card' to help our health service during the coronavirus pandemic.

Chris Nicholls, from Chris Nicholls Motors in Helston, came up with the idea when thinking about he could raise money to help the NHS in Cornwall.

He says it would work in the same way a normal reward scheme would, but each time you shop or spend on the card the reward cash is donated to the health service instead.

Now he is urging people to share posts on social media and raise awareness, to get the ball rolling.

He told Pirate FM he is now contacting banks to try and bring the idea to life.

"I thought about how much we spend and get in rewards on our credit cards, and I was thinking maybe if there was an NHS credit card that I could take out with a bank, and then all the reward cash that I get when I spend goes to the NHS direct.

"I don't think we will be flying to any exotic locations soon as they're all inaccessible, including France and Spain and all of these lovely places that we love to visit, so instead, every time you shop, which isn't as much as it used to be, will be helping the NHS.

"So what I'm trying to do is get some publicity together to raise awareness so a bank can bring out this card.

"I've had an image of a card made by a friend of mine in London, Matty Burrows, with permission from Rachel List to use her illustration, which is mocked up.

"I'm contacting banks as we speak to try and get this put in place."

The illustrations on the mocked up images have been created by Rachel List from Pontefract.

Anyone who can help is urged to share posts on social media and spread the word.
