Beauty spots across Cornwall left empty over Easter weekend

Popular tourist hotspots were left empty across Cornwall over the Easter weekend, as people followed the coronavirus lockdown rules.

We were lucky enough to be basked in glorious sunshine over the bank holiday but luckily it seems many people still followed the government advice and stayed at home.

It comes after officials issued advice urging visitors not to travel to the Duchy for a holiday, but instead to #comebacklater.

Meantime police carried out patrols across our roads, stopping and asking drivers whether their journeys were essential.

The roads policing team caught a few people with some questionable excuses.

One driver, who was stopped on the A30 near Launceston, was on a 170-mile round trip to 'have a break from the wife and kids'.

Another was pulled over near Bodmin who had travelled across the Duchy to collect a second hand boat.

But many others obeyed the government guidance to stay at home, stay safe and protect the NHS, as police reported quiet patrols across Cornwall.

Here are some the beauty spots that were left empty during the sunny Easter weekend:

Charlestown Harbour was empty as St Austell Police carried out their patrols...

Officers put out a big thank you message after not a soul was spotted at Perranporth Beach or at Chapel Porth...

Stunning scenes from west Cornwall as Penzance Police carried out patrols at beaches...

And a big open space at Widemouth Bay as Launceston Police praised people for staying at home...
