A caravan went up in flames as a fire broke out near Tesco Extra in Pool.

12 calls were made to 999 to report the blaze on Dudnance Lane at around 8.45pm on Tuesday night.

Fire crews were called to the scene and found the vehicle well alight with the flames spreading.

Two hose reels jets were used to put the fire out and to prevent a 'serious escalation' of the incident.

The blaze is believed to be arson and it has been reported to police.

"At 20:44 Critical Control received the first of 12 999 calls reporting a fire in the Dudnance Lane area of Pool.

"Three appliances were mobilised; two from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station and one from Hayle Community Fire Station. A Station Manager was also mobilised as the Incident Commander.

"On arrival crews found a caravan well alight which was starting to spread to a second caravan and a car. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus under Rapid Deployment used two hose reel jets to prevent serious escalation of the incident.

"On arrival of further resources the fire was extinguished. The third appliance from Hayle was not required and instead stayed in the Camborne area to provide fire cover.

"Arson is suspected and the incident has now been passed to the police."
