A schoolgirl from Hayle with a rare genetic disorder will soon finally be able to play with her two big brothers, thanks to a specialist bike.

Nine-year-old Amber has had physical difficulties since she was a baby, resulting in her being diagnosed with a rare genetic difference and a global developmental delay.

In the last 18 months, due to another ongoing health issue, Amber has also been diagnosed with Thoracic Scoliosis which has resulted in her wearing a spinal brace for 20 hours a day. That includes all night in bed and all day at school.

She has access to a wheelchair for getting out and about but longs to join in on bike rides with her brothers.

A Go Fund Me page was set up to help raise money towards the cost of a specialist bike for her, meaning she would be able to get outside and active with her family.

Thanks to the generosity of the local community that can now become a reality, as the appeal smashed its target within a matter of days.

The fundraising page originally aimed to raise £1,000 towards the cost of the bike, the target was smashed in no time at all and now enough money has been raised to cover the whole starting cost of a specialist bike, which is £3,600.

Mum Helen Williams says the family are "so overwhelmed and very grateful" for every penny that has been raised.

You can find the Go Fund Me page for Amber's bike here.

The fundraising page reads: "Despite all she has going on Amber is a happy sociable lovely little girl who loves her big brothers, sharing a special bond with eldest brother Drew.

"Having such active big brothers it’s really sad when Amber cannot join them when out riding bikes.

"Amber has a wheelchair provided by the NHS for distances and days when she’s tired as she can fatigue easily but this isn’t the same as going out for family rides resulting in either Mum or Dad staying back with Amber.

"Our wish is that we can raise funds to get a specialist bike meaning we can all get out together for fresh air and exercise and removing some barriers Amber faces in her life.

"We appreciate times are financially hard during these  unusual times but would be grateful for anything that people could spare.

"Sadly we are unable to purchase a suitable bike ourselves with some prices in the region of £3000 plus.

"We have looked into charity support and grant applications but again during this time most are not taking new applicants and those that do like it if you can fundraise part of the cost yourself. "
