Another hotel in Cornwall is offering up beds to help ease pressure on hospitals during the coronavirus crisis.

Pirate FM told you how The Carnmarth Hotel in Newquay will be used as a place to stay for those patients who have been in hospital, been discharged, but are not ready to go home.

Now it has been confirmed that another 'discharge lounge' has been set up at the Penventon Park Hotel in Redruth.

A third hotel is also being considered at the moment, after Cornwall Council said it was trying to secure 120 beds in total.

Officials say these beds will provide vital additional capacity to the hospitals as they continue to see a rise in demand.

Corserv Community Care Services has been finding suitable hotels across the Duchy and getting the additional beds ready.

The STEPS and Corcare adult social care teams set-up the two discharge lounges in just one week, in partnership with Stay at Home.

"All hotel employees have been provided with additional training and support from our care teams and are now working as part of the larger team offering this vital service and keeping our residents safe.

"As the pressure in the system continues to escalate, these additional beds will be critical to ensure those with the greatest need are provided with our vital support."
