Parent caught taking teenage daughter on driving lesson in Camborne

A parent has been caught taking their teenage daughter for a driving lesson in Cornwall, during the coronavirus lockdown.

Police tweeted to say it is NOT an essential journey and goes against the Covid-19 legislation.

We are currently only allowed to leave our homes for four key reasons: to go grocery shopping, to go to work if we cannot work from home, for medical reasons and to help someone who is vulnerable.

They were issued with a fine in the Camborne area on Monday.

"No, taking your teenage daughter for a driving lesson is not an essential journey and is in contravention of Covid-19 legislation 

"Fine issued for this in Camborne area last night."

It comes after police patrols were carried out across the Duchy and Devon's roads over Easter, to catch those making non-essential journeys.

Officers say people are still making journeys to Cornwall despite the lockdown rules having been in force for weeks.

Just a few days ago a caravan was given a penalty ticket and sent back to Sheffield...

Over the bank holiday weekend a driver was caught on a 170 mile round trip to Cornwall... to "have a break from the wife and kids".

Police pulled them over on the A30 near Launceston on Easter Sunday during the coronavirus lockdown.

Another driver was reported near Bodmin, who had driven across the county to collect a second hand boat.

A string of other vehicles heading to Cornwall and Devon were also turned around after being stopped by police.
