A woman has been airlifted to hospital after falling from cliffs on the Cornish coast.

Coastguard teams say she fell from 'a significant height' at Porthleven on Thursday.

Crews from the Penzance and Mullion were called to the scene too, along with police and a rescue helicopter.

Two cliff technicians were lowered down to help the casualty before she was flown to onward care at Derriford Hospital.

Officers say the woman in her 40s suffered suspected multiple fractures.

"Police have been assisting the coastguard and ambulance in the search for a woman in the Porthleven area, following a report of concerns for her welfare at around 10.15am yesterday morning.

"A woman in her 40s was located at the base of cliffs near the harbour about 11.15am and was taken to Derriford Hospital via air ambulance with suspected multiple fractures."
