Carer volunteers to personally deliver PPE across north Cornwall

A carer from north Cornwall is volunteering to deliver personal protective equipment to those who need it amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Leon Chambers wants to help people and organisations who are making PPE supplies for keyworkers, such as face masks, get them out to care homes.

He is based in Delabole but is offering to help out anyone across the north Cornwall area by personally delivering stock on his motorbike.

Leon told Pirate FM the supplies are vital in protecting care workers and he wants to help others stay safe.

"A lot of the care homes I go to have very little PPE, and the other half I go to go out to people in the community.

"We've got to get dressed up before we go into the houses and we really need the protection.

"Unfortunately there are some places which don't have enough PPE, so carers are going in and doing their job and putting their own lives at risk, and that's not fair.

"This disease is hitting everybody hard and people, espically the nurses and the carers, just want to do their job correctly and be safe."
